So What’s All the Fuss about Infrared Heating and iHeater?

Infrared heating technology is used in the iHeater, but what is it and why should you care?  The iHeater is more than and superior to a conventional space heater in a number of ways.

First let’s discuss the conventional electric space heater that most of us that live in cold climates are probably familiar with.  Most space heaters are designed and used to deliver concentrated heat to a specific small area.  Notice we are only talking about heating a small area or single person.  One example of traditional space heater is small heater under a desk to warm your feet, like the one that is currently warming my feet.  Other uses include heating a small room like a bathroom.  Space heaters are usually small inexpensive devices with a coil inside and heat very similar to a toaster oven.  Sometimes a fan is added to deliver forced air.

Now that we have reviewed the traditional space heater we need to make the point that infrared heat produced form the iHeater is very different from the space heater we have just defined and it intended to be used differently than a space heater.

The iHeater uses a solid state copper heat chamber, rather than a coil used by the space heater or bulbs or quartz tubes used by other radiant heat devices.   Then cooler air is pulled into the heat chamber from floor level and forced out the front vent. Because warm air rises the cooler air will always be near the floor.

The other difference with the infrared radiant heaters is they are designed to heat much larger areas than the space heater.  Depending on the model it will heat between 1,000 and 1,500 square feet which is the size of the average home in the US.  So you may be able to heat your entire house with one infrared heater.

And maybe the most important advantage is the cost of operation.  Because of the efficient use of infrared heat you should be able to drastically reduce your heating bills.  The cost of operation will obviously vary with the external temperature and how well your house is insulated.

The iHeater infrared heating system helps keep the humidity levels at a desirable level and actually uses the humidity to distribute heat into other areas of your home.  Also, the technology keeps you from experiencing temperature variations between the floor and ceiling like you experience with traditional heating systems.
